Agency: Division of Environmental Health
CVI Required: Yes
Rabies Required: Yes - for 3 months or older
Doobert.com has been obtaining permission to use photo images of CVIs and health certificates as proof that the paper certificates were completed within 30 days. This way, the paper certificates do not need to be transported with the animals reducing the opportunity for them to be lost in the handover from one transporter to the next.
The Alaska State Vet has approved the use of this for Doobert.com. Specifically, make sure that:
- The CVI was filled out by and signed by a USDA Accredited Veterinarian
- It lists the animal identification (photo is acceptable with physical description)
- It identifies the premises of origin
- It meets the import requirements (for dog, cat or ferret is older than 12 weeks of age has a current rabies vaccination)
- It lists the destination physical address for a premise in Alaska
- The digital copy is clear and readable.

Dog & Cat Requirements
These animals require a current rabies vaccination if three (3) months of age or older and a small animal health certificate within 30 days of import. Persons with animals coming from a rabies quarantine area or that cannot be vaccinated for rabies are required to call the State Veterinarian office in Anchorage at (907) 375-8215 for issuance of a permit number.
Specific State Regulations
Canada: For dog and cat round-trip movement from Alaska to Canada, not longer than one month such as for vacation, site seeing trips, dog shows, etc, it is required to have a current rabies certificate only. It is important to have the actual rabies certificate, not just a rabies tag. A health certificate is not required.
