Meet Polly! Polly has been with our shelter since December 2022. She was surrendered with her sister who looked so much like her. Unfortunately, her sister was adopted but she was not. During her long stay with us we have gotten to know Polly a bit more. Even though Polly did reside in a home with another dog that was her sister, she does not seem to care to be in a home with other animals. However, this girl loves herself some human contact. She would be a fantastic running partner for someone who loves to run daily. She is a straight shooter without making pitstops to sniff her scenery. Like many dogs alike they prefer to get a chance to meet you and get to know you first. Polly is that very type of dog. Once she feels comfortable with you then the cuddles and zoomies begin. She has met several types of humans including children and seems to do well with all. Due to her voluptuous body size older kids in the home would be more her speed and be able to keep up with her weight. Watch out for her nibble kisses when she gets overstimulated, she likes to hand those out. We have recommended her to be a truck driver’s dog since she always wants to be in your lap. Shirley has been with us since May of 2022. She was originally found as a stray locally however no one came forward for her. During her year long stay with us we were able to discover that Shirley was an actual stray. She was unsocialized, fearful of humans, did not know what a leash was or even how to walk on one. Over time she became comfortable with staff and learned we are her friends. Due to Shirley requiring a home with some more limitations than others’ can be overwhelming for someone looking to adopt. She is looking for the right human that simply just enjoys life as a carefree spirit. A human that can connect with Shirley like the staff here does but in her forever home. A human that does not have many strangers in and out of their home or a human that has older children pass elementary ages. Shirley is a fantastic companion for someone who drives a truck and loves the help on the road. Perhaps you have a work from home type of lifestyle and would love some attention from a dog who prefers to sit on the couch watching you work. We have an awesome doggy day trip program that Shirley has participated in with a volunteer. He has something lovely to add about her in his own home. "Shirley did wonderful this weekend and settled right in and made herself right at home. She is starting to learn some commands like sit and shake. She is very laid back and mild tempered for the most part. There is some puppy play in her still where she likes to do zoomies in the house and parkour off the couches. If you’re not paying enough attention to her laying on the couch, she nibbles at you lightly. Nothing hard or aggressive. She likes being your shadow, following me through the house and staying close to me in the yard." Meet Jackie! Who doesn’t love a red headed girl who can do zoomies around the yard and be a calm cuddle bug that sits in your lap all in one? Jackie has been at our shelter since Oct 2022 awaiting her forever home. She came in as a stray and no one came forward to claim her. We have learned a lot about her in her year stay with us. Jackie likes people who are in her circle, once you are her friend there is no going back. Jackie has gone on parallel walks with other dogs but has not engaged in play groups with other dogs. We do feel she is best as a singleton in her forever home since she thrives on having all attention on her. She was provided a wire crate in her kennel to assist Jackie with any stress that may occur being in a shelter environment for a long period at one time. Watch out for those obnoxious kisses she forces them upon you during cuddle time. A forever home looks like belly rubs, wobble kongs, and napping on the couch for Jackie. Meet Blue! Who doesn’t love a cross-eyed handsome boy like Blue! Blue arrived at the shelter July 2023 as a surrender due to his previous owner no longer being able to care for him. He did live in a home with a senior dog however does not seem to want to be friends with every dog. He had a great meet with a staff member’s dog and was on his best behavior. He may need to be a singleton pet for someone looking for a companion but can only handle one pet at a time then Blue is your guy. If he can meet a dog that will match his energy level, then may be able to co-exist with another dog in the home. He is very friendly with anyone he has encountered and loves going on walks.
