  • LylePoodle, Miniature/Mix

    Lyle - Poodle, Miniature/Mix

Lyle has been diagnosed with Multi-Focal Chronic IVDD, which is basically a fancy way of saying that he has a slipped disc in his back. Because of this, he is currently on Prednisone and Gabapentin for pain. Lyle will need to be confined (no crazy physical activity) for the next 4-6 weeks. He likes to lay low anyways, since he is a senior, so this shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Lyle will need to be reevaluated in about 3-4 weeks. Animal Health will schedule this appointment for you. He will need physical therapy daily – this can be done at home for 20-30 minutes, 3-4 times a day. We have instructions from PVG which include applying a warm compress to his neck, back, and legs, massaging his leg and feet muscles, passive range of motion practices which will help his joint mobility and comfort, active range of motion practices, standing exercises, and sling walks. We will definitely give his foster more detailed instructions upon pickup.

If you are interested in temporarily fostering Lyle while he recovers, please fill out our dog foster application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSca3_MhAYs-CQ1uWiFheEdC6hSknHs14IBeZP2rr3VsZLIUrg/viewform
