About Community Cat Allies
What we do: provide Trap-Neuter/Spay-Vaccinate-Return (TNR) programs to community, aka feral, cats in Monterey County, California.
TNR is the widely accepted best practice to humanely and effectively manage the community cat population. TNR means:
Trap: Cats are humanely trapped and transported to veterinary clinics.
Neuter: Cats are then spayed or neutered, vaccinated to protect against disease, microchipped, and ear tipped for identification.
Return: After veterinarian care, the cats are returned home to better lives.
Why? To save cats!
TNR reduces the number of kittens born outdoors; managed colonies are healthy colonies with less unwanted behavior; and over time, TNR reduces the number of free roaming cats.
We also foster and adopt out about 20 kittens annually rescued from local feral colonies, always making sure to TNR mama and other adults.
We’ve rescued abandoned, adult friendly cats and provided much needed medical care including knee surgery for a kitty hit by a car and comprehensive eye exams for a visually compromised cat. Our adult rescue kitties have been adopted into wonderful homes.
We help with the cost of medical care for community cats including comprehensive exams and treatment, minor surgery, and humane euthanasia if the community cat is suffering.
We are 100% volunteer run and mostly donation funded.
