Marion County Dog Shelter

Marion County Dog Services (MCDS) operates Marion County's dog shelter, which is located in Salem. Our Mission is to serve and protect dogs and communities throughout Marion County. The team at MCDS is tasked with enforcing Marion County dog licensing and control ordinances; promoting humane treatment of dogs; providing shelter and care for stray dogs until they are reunited with their families or adopted; educating residents on quality dog care; and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements when pulling an Animal: We require the Recue or shelter interested in pulling an animal to contact our Rescue Relation specialist here at the shelter. Requirements when Fostering an animal: We require a DMV check for all foster care givers and an Online Foster Orientation. Requirements when transporting an Animal: Pass a DMV check and Online Volunteer Orientation.
