About Austin Animal Center

Austin Animal Center provides shelter to more than 16,000 animals annually plus animal protection and pet resource services to Austin and unincorporated parts of Travis County. We accept stray and owned animals regardless of age, health, species or breed. Our goal is to place all adoptable animals in forever homes through adoption, foster care or rescue partner groups. Animal Services has numerous programs and partnerships designed to help pets in the shelter, in the community and in your home. Mission Statement To provide public service and a safety net for lost and homeless animals in the community by providing necessary food, water, shelter and standard municipal veterinary care for animals in need. To provide placement services that will assist lost, homeless or sheltered animals to their homes or find new homes when necessary, to provide live outcomes for at least 90% of sheltered animals. To enforce animal regulations and assist the public with animal-related concerns, including impoundment, quarantine and other rabies control services in order to protect citizens and animals in our community. To provide animal services to the public in order to educate and prevent animal homelessness and promote humane, compassionate treatment of animals and responsible pet ownership.

The following are the terms of this Transfer Agreement for Placement Partners between the City of Austin Animal Services Office (“ASO”) and the animal rescue organization/group (“Partner”) (“Agreement”). Partner agrees to comply with the following requirements: (Check each box) - Partner represents and certifies it is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization and documentation confirming such has been provided and accepted by ASO. - Neither the undersigned nor any current director, officer, staff member or volunteer of the Partner has been convicted of a charge related to cruelty, neglect, nor is abandonment to animals nor that no such charge against any of the previously mentioned persons currently pending. I also confirm that Partner is not constrained by a court that prevents our rescue group from taking in animals - ASO will provide all available medical and behavior information for animals transferred to partners. - Partner understands and acknowledges that ASO can, at its sole discretion, extend the hold time on animals for events. - All animals will be given intake vaccinations. Animals tagged for pulls will be transferred in their current state. All Partners will sign a spay/neuter agreement and abide by the State of Texas Code Chapter 828. Partner agrees that no animal transferred to Partner will be used for breeding purposes. When an animal is pulled from ASO by a partner, the partner takes full ownership of the animal and assumes all risk and liability as the sole owner of the animal. Partner understands and acknowledges that Partner assumes all financial responsibility for animals transferred to it and will not seek financial reimbursement for any expenses incurred, including veterinary services and behavioral support. - Partner, while acting in its capacity as a non-profit organization, should not disseminate any statement that is or contains any content, data, work, or materials that is inaccurate, offensive, defamatory, harassing, malicious, or that would reflect adversely on the reputation or competence of the City or ASO. Partner will immediately remove any statement that ASO determines violates this term immediately when ASO requests its removal. - Partner will confirm the list of animals to be transferred via email to ASO’s rescue coordinator and agrees to pick up animals on the committed date and time. - Partner agrees to abide by all state and local laws regarding pets including daily care and medical care as needed. - Partner understands and acknowledges that if at any time my organization is found to be out of compliance with this Agreement, then ASO reserves the right to terminate the approved placement partner status. - Partner understands and acknowledges that while ASO carefully monitors all animals, ASO may have limited knowledge of their behavioral and medical backgrounds. ASO makes no warranties Page 2 of 2 or representations regarding the animal’s health, behavior, temperament, age, or breed. Partner further understands and acknowledges that environmental changes may effect and change the temperament of the respective transferred animals and that ASO has no liability or responsibility of any nature regarding defects with the animal, or injuries or damage to any person or property which may be caused by the animal. Partner agree to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Austin, ASO, their members, officers, directors, agents, heirs, administrators, executors, successors and representatives against any and all claims, known or unknown, nor or hereafter in connection with this animal. - Partner agrees that this Agreement does not create a partnership, joint venture or other business association between ASO and Partner, the use of the term, “Partner,” notwithstanding. Partner understands and acknowledges that ASO may refuse a transfer to my rescue group at any time for any reason.
