Washington Parish Animal Shelter

The WPAS is a new municipal shelter located in Washington Parish, even though we are a small Parish we are overrun with cats and dogs, and we are looking at all opportunities to be able to help relieve not only the amount of animals but to educate our parish on better control of animal( spay/neuter). I believe that transports are some of the best ways to help out the community, puppies are the bane of our existence, for one puppy in six months the parish could have 16 more puppies, we do adopt out locally but we only have a population of 46,000 and have already seen problems in the amount of animals that can be adopted out. we go to many events and try our hardest to place animals in homes but we are losing the battle with population.

We must know at least four days in advance which animals are being pulled and at least a full week in advance if any special vetting is required i.e. out of the norm testing or vaccines, if the animal must be spayed/neutered.
