Shanghai Furry Friends

Shanghai Furry Friends is an active animal rescue organization in Shanghai, China. Owing to to it being very difficult to find permanent homes for rescue dogs and cats in China (most pet owners want to have pure bred dogs, and look down upon mixed breeds or strays), we have been regularly sending a few dogs and cats at a time to the US to find permanent homes, when circumstances allow. Currently we send on average 2-4 dogs per month. Until now, we have worked with our partner in Phoenix, AZ, HALO Animal Rescue, who receives the dogs and adopts them out fairly quickly. But this requires a lot of coordination - a volunteer in LA to pick them up from the airport when the arrive on the flight from China, someone to foster them for a few days or up to a week in LA following their tiring airplane ride, and someone to transport them from LA to Phoenix when the time is right. We are in need of driving volunteers, fosters in LA, and even shelters in LA willing to receive the dogs/cats so we don't need to transport them the additional way to Phoenix.

Typically we have been able to offer gas money to driving volunteers. We are unable to offer resources to the fosters in LA. The only rules are to care for the animals well and responsibly. Always walk them on a leash; never remove them from their kennels or crates in an open space - always indoors; avoid taking them out of the transport vehicle during the ride to Phoenix to avoid accidents.
