Furry Friends Rescue

Furry Friends Rescue (FFR) is an all-volunteer non-profit Bay Area companion animal rescue organization, comprised entirely of experienced volunteers who collectively have rescued thousands of companion animals and placed them in forever loving homes. United and inspired by our compassion for all animals, we focus our talents on saving dogs and cats of all ages (babies to senior), all breed types, special medical/behavior needs and unadopted dogs and cats on "Put To Sleep" lists (PTS) from Northern California animal shelters. Each rescued animal is provided veterinary care and then live in volunteer foster homes where they get TLC and basic home training. Most of our dogs and cats are well behaved and are ready for adoption. A few may need special care to recuperate from medical, mental or physical neglect/abuse; or to regain their confidence and trust in people.

We have a few volunteers trained in evaluating dogs and cats. They only pull when authorized by President. We only work with shelters we are authorized to pull from. Volunteers must fill out a form, in person, which removes our liability. We pay for spay/neuter and all vet care, grooming until they are adopted. All animals are home fostered in volunteer foster homes. All adopters must fill out an application online that is reviewed by a few adoption counselors. We have adoption counselors to interview potential adopters. We must meet everyone in the family, including dogs. We do home visits for all adoptions. Adopters must sign a contract. If the animal is too young to be spayed/neutered at time of adoption or they are puppies we add spay/neuter and training clauses in contract. We follow up at correct time for the age/size of dog to get the spay/neuter completed and we pay for that. We also take back our animals for life.
