About Bay Area Rescue Keeshonden, Inc.

We are a 501c3 Keeshond rescue organization, in business since 2002. We rescue Keeshond dogs and related breeds. We foster the dogs in the homes of volunteers, who provide the dogs with love, attention, and the comforts of home while we prepare them for their new forever homes. We match the dogs with their new homes very carefully, according to the needs of the dogs and people.

Please see the guidelines for working with our organization below.

Accepting dogs into our foster program must be arranged by our board. All dogs pulled for our organization must be approved by a board member prior to pulling them. Volunteers must be approved by our board prior to pulling or transporting dogs. The safety of our dogs is our first priority. Dogs should be in crates during transport. Rescue dogs often try to bolt/escape from unfamiliar people and places, and will go to amazing lengths to break out of yards, etc. Anyone handling dogs must be vigilant to prevent escapes. When not crated, dogs must be securely leashed to prevent escaping; double leashing is preferred, but a slip lead is a must. Dogs must have access to unfamiliar yards only under direct supervision.
