Leitchfield Animal Shelter

About Leitchfield Animal Shelter
The Leitchfield Animal Shelter is an open intake facility serving the city of Leitchfield, KY and Grayson County stray dogs. LAS was established in 2016 by the City of Leitchfield. It was formerly Grayson County Humane Society and ran only by volunteers. Many changes have been made over the last 3 years to make our shelter one of cleanest and most organized in Kentucky. Statistically we are a no-kill shelter however we are a very small facility with only 22 kennels making us very open to rescue help so that we can keep our euthanasia rate below 10%.
Please see the guidelines for working with our organization below.
All of the dogs that enter our facility immediately receive dewormer (Pyrantel or Panacur depending), Frontline, and a Duramune Max 5 + Corona booster and will have a minimum $20 pull fee. Dogs that are spayed/neutered in our care will have a $50 pull fee minimum. Animals needing a health certificate (includes rabies vaccine) for travel will have a $30 pull fee minimum. If a HW test is needed, and not already processed, for rescue $10 will be added to the pull fee. Fostering an animal from our shelter requires a foster application to be filled out in person. Transportation requirements for our shelter are a copy of your license, year and make of your vehicle as well as your license plate number before travel.
