Parker Paws Animal Rescue

About Parker Paws Animal Rescue
Parker Paws is a pet rescue organization on a mission to save the lives of dogs and cats in Parker County and surrounding cities in North/Central Texas through fostering and adoption. We intake our rescue animals from local shelters, community strays and owner surrenders. Our organization is filled with 100% non-paid volunteers. We are a small rescue, trying to make a HUGE difference in the lives of homeless and abandoned pets in Texas. We do not have a facility, all of our rescued cats and dogs are fostered in homes with families and other animals. We keep ALL of our pets until they are adopted or in the case of kittens/cats, ready to go into the Cat Adoption Center at our local PetSmart. We pride ourselves in adopting out family friendly pets who do well in diverse homes and who are FULLY vetted. Parker Paws is a 501(c)3 non-profit that is run by 100% volunteers. We rely on generous donations from the community and local businesses to support our lifesaving mission. No one receives a salary and many of us have full time jobs in addition to their role with the organization. We are a fun group that shares a passion for rescue!
Please see the guidelines for working with our organization below.
Our dog and cat coordinators evaluate every animal we take into our program, whether it be a surrender situation, a rescue from from a shelter or a stray and they contact one of our fosters to then place it in a home. Every foster must have had a previous interview, training and home visit before receiving one of these animals. Attendance at adoption events, fundraisers and online exposure (website and facebook) helps with finding our foster animals a forever home, after receiving full vetting, spay/neuter and microchip. We have applications that potential adopters must complete along with a home visit to make sure animal and adopter are a good match. When this happens, a contract is signed by both adopter and Parker Paws representative (usually the foster). We are called or emailed many times a day, asking for help rehoming and our shelters are overcrowded with so many. We have never investigated the transport option before now and are looking forward to creating some connections with rescues in other parts of the country who could help our overpopulation here in Texas.
