About Marden's Ark Avian Refuge

Our goals are to build year-round livable aviaries (hybrid greenhouse/aviary structures) in which to house birds in a natural setting where they can live as birds are meant to live: flying, living in flocks and foraging. We believe all lives are valuable and pledge to do whatever we can towards promoting rescue, rehabilitation, and well-being of companion birds. Our mission is to provide a high quality refuge funded by donations from large corporate sponsors, local business owners, and generous individuals so unwanted parrots and other exotic birds from the pet trade can find a permanent home where they receive the best medical care, quality food, fresh water, organic fruit and vegetables, a lot of personal attention and where they can even enjoy being part of a flock with the natural experience of free flight in a safe environment.

Please see the guidelines for working with our organization below.

We are a sanctuary type organization, with our intended goal being to provide refuge for the "unwanted" birds of the pet trade: ex-breeders, birds with behavior issues, birds that have been deemed "vicious" and others that aren't suitable candidates for being rehomed. Recently, due to a severe lack of rescues in our area to take in birds, we've been asked to and have taken in several human-socialized birds that enjoy interaction. We are in the very infancy of starting up a foster program, and will potentially allow fosters to adopt their birds once we are assured everyone is a good fit! Our main goal is to try to place birds in as natural a setting as we can create for them and give them flight, flock and natural foraging, and as such we try to foster or adopt out only those birds who do not adjust well to a flock lifestyle.
