Scott County Humane Society

About Scott County Humane Society
The Scott County Humane Society in Scott County, KY is united in a mission to ensure humane care and conditions for companion animals through spay/neuter, humane awareness education, and responsible pet adoption and ownership. We are primarily a foster based organization but do operate an adoption center where about a dozen cats are housed. We are not an intake facility but primarily pull cats and dogs from the Scott County Animal Shelter, a county run shelter for all unwanted animals. We can take a limited number of animals (primarily cats) from other shelters usually only during winter months when our shelter is not full and give priority to nearby shelters with high euthanization rates. We do adopt out of state and sometimes need transport. We are also interested in transporting animals to rescue organizations needing adoptable animals.
Please see the guidelines for working with our organization below.
We have both a cat and a dog adoption team that make decisions on approving transport of animals and intake of animals from facilities other than our local shelter.
