About Columbus House Rabbit Society

The Columbus House Rabbit Society is a licensed chapter of the international House Rabbit Society. Our chapter is devoted to finding permanent, loving homes for abandoned rabbits and educating the public's understanding of rabbits as companion animals.

Please see the guidelines for working with our organization below.

Rabbits must be transported inside the enclosed vehicle, away from direct wind from open windows and AC vents. No rabbit should be transported without a carrier or be loose in the vehicle. Carriers should be strapped down with a seat belt through the handle or seat-belt slot when transported on the vehicle seats. If transporting in the cargo area, adequate shielding from direct sunlight should be provided to prevent overheating. Audio volume should be controlled when carriers are located near the car speakers. Transports lasting more than three hours should provide breaks to allow access to food, hay, water, and wet leafy greens, with adequate time to eat.
