Help get Oakley and Lainey to Texas! Oakley is a 3 year old Boxer. After chewing up a pair of sunglasses, Oakley's owner surrendered him because "she was tired of him" and "wanted him gone." He had been locked in a small wire kennel under a carport without any barrier between him and the concrete, and without any protection from the heat and sun during the peak of Summer. When he first came into the Grenada shelter, he was friendly and excited to play with every dog he crossed paths with. As time went on, he became sad and withdrawn, and began refusing to eat. Lainey is a 1-2 year old mix found in a parking lot after being hit by a car. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that he had also been shot. Due to these injuries, his mobility is limited, making him a perfect walking buddy. Like Oakley, he used to get excited to play and loved to cuddle, but has withdrawn more and more as his time in the shelter has increased, despite the care staff has given him. The SPCA of Brazoria County is pulling these animals to help rehabilitate them—we just need help getting them to us! Once here, they will work with our enrichment specialist to pull them back out of their shells while we strive to find them the perfect home.
